Halloween Wedding- Vampire and the Silent Film Star

In 2010, we shot another Halloween wedding.  The bride, L, was dressed beautifully as a silent era film star.  The groom, S, was a Victorian era vampire.  Both had the small touches that just made their costumes pop.  L's headpiece and  bracelet and S's vampire teeth and walking stick are just a few of the examples.

They were exceedingly sweet and very excited about the upcoming nuptials.  We had a bit of a twist, and actually shot their wedding photos BEFORE the ceremony at the quaint and beautiful cemetery in Fonthill.  We really wanted to capture that feeling of romance and menace that always seems to come through in the old horror movies.

Just a touch of red

With L's dark dress, and beautiful pale complexion, we got the amazing contrast that is so indicative of that era.

My very favourite
And then, we just had a lot of fun with it.

Their reception was set up perfectly, with amazing touches everywhere.

Thank you to S and L, for inviting us into their day.  It was an amazing day, and we were thrilled to be a part of it.

Halloween Wedding and Zompocalypse

So, not only do we do portraits and families, but we do weddings.  The weddings we do tend to be a little different and a little left of centre (just like us!).

The first wedding we did was in 2009, on Halloween for S and I.  The couple were married in the pavilion at Fireman's Park in Niagara Falls.  The fall colours, the beautiful couple..and we even threw in a few extras, with just a Halloween feel.

This is so beautiful, it's just the epitome of the day.

The reception was themed for a Zombie Apocoplypse.  That's when we really had fun.  The couple were so into it, you could tell they loved their costumes, the genre, and especially each other.

2 against the world.
Or what's left of it, anyway.

Rule 28- Beware of Bathrooms.

Best Wedding Photo.
Ever.
Thank you to S and I for a great day, and lots of fun!

Christmas by the Falls with the C family

Our 3rd photo shoot for Christmas 2011 was with the wonderful C family.  Mom, Dad, brother P and sister M picked a favorite spot right near the actual Niagara Falls to have their Christmas pictures done.  Since the weather wasn't co-operative in providing us with some nice, wintery snow (instead it was sunny!) we focused our efforts inside, in the beautiful displays available to us.

The amazing C family

P, who is on the spectrum, brought some favorite things along, and we often included them in the shots.  This presented a bit of a challenge, but one we are well used to with our own son!  Every shot we took, the first was of P's favorite things.

What amazing eyes.

Daughter M was made for the camera.  She had so much fun, and was a blast to work with.

Pretty M, just hanging out!

Mom and Dad were up for pretty much anything, and were lovely and gracious.  We had a great time, and it was a perfect way to finish up our Christmas shooting.  They let us have fun, and have some goofy shots!

Thank you, C family, for letting us try and capture your love and fun on film!

Fun travels in packs with the P family!

Our 2nd Christmas shoot was with a large family.  One child on the spectrum, and a bunch of "littles" jacked up on holiday energy and ready to go!!

The gang's all here!

Look at those amazing eyes.
Mom was 100% instrumental in helping us wrangle the group.  She wanted very specific set ups, with certain individuals with the others.  Thankfully, the kids were all more than willing to sit and pose and ham it up.  We had great talks about Annie the Musical and Spagetti Ohs (lots of the smiles you see were mid-spagetti oh shout!)

Big Brother A

Adorable Sisters

Brothers and best buds
The ASD portion of the shoot was awesome.  J was very against the photos at first, so we worked with the others and had some fun.  Slowly, J realized we were having us some fun over there, and worked his way wonderfully into the group photos.  We moved from there to pictures with his big brother A (in the amazing bow tie!) and from there, we eased into the individual portraits.  We shot around and included his Elvis ornament and even the iPad.  I think it worked out amazing.

Amazing green eyes and deep in thought
My favorite photo of the whole shoot however is the one of the 5 littles on the stairs.  We were being goofy and having fun.  This one was their scary faces.  The absolute commitment to it and the laughter and fun that comes through in this photo makes me laugh, every single time I look at it.
the best horde I have ever seen!

Thank you P family, for letting us into your home and your holiday!

Special Kind of Christmas with the P Family

We had an amazing time with a shoot in early December with a wonderful family of 5.  Mom hadn't had a family picture taken ever, that included the newest edition, S, who was 18 months old.

Christmas Pjs!!
Snuggles
Both M, the oldest boy and Baby S are on the spectrum and were absolutely delightful.

Beautiful Baby S.

Our boy M loves trains.  We loved him.
Oldest daughter K was awesome.  She loved the camera and loved having fun.  She drew me a beautiful picture that I have kept on my fridge in a special place.
Gorgeous K with her dressed up pony!
I really felt connected with all the kids, and you could feel the Christmas spirit through the entire shoot.  When we left, we got hugs from both M and K, which brought tears to my eyes.

It was a wonderful experience and thanks to all for letting us come in and try and capture your joy on film!

lots of love and laughs.

Welcome!

Thanks for finding us!!  We are so grateful to you for checking us out.  We hope you like what you see, and will come back and visit us often.  Hopefully, you will want to join us and see your own family's smiles here!

A little about us- Geoff is a photographer that has a soft spot for textural photos and landscapes.  He has his photography certificate from Niagara College.  He is also a dad, and uses his children as his first (and favorite) models and test subjects.

Anita is the image designer, who loves working with the models and families, to try and get what is in her head into the image.  She is also a mom to two wonderful kids.  It is her role as mom, particularily to her 10 year-old son, who has been diagnosed with Austism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) that moved her towards a new adventure in photo taking.

So, what are we trying to do?

We want to provide special needs families with an environment and experience that is specifically catered to them. To do that, we want to integrate a few special things:

- You get a "Bad Day Pass". This means is that if within the first 15 minutes of the photo shoot, you feel that your child is having a bad day, and it's not going well, we will re-schedule the shoot, with no charge to you.

- We will come to you. Whether that is your home, or a park, or wherever you think your child is most comfortable, or has meaning to you, we will go there. As long as it is reasonable (as much as I would like to go to Mexico, that's not gonna happen! ) No sitting in a studio, worried that the family waiting next is going to hear the screaming and fussing.

- We will book the appointment to include “getting to know you time”. We aren’t going to start shooting right away. We would like to take some time to let your family and kids get used to us. We are different and out of the their ordinary routine. So, I will sit and chat with you, about what they like, what works, while my husband gets set up and ready. That way, by the time we are ready to shoot, they will be ready for us and be more relaxed (fingers crossed!). If not- see “Bad day pass”!

- We will do a combination of candid moments and posed shots. We would rather capture the easy natural smiles of your kids and family playing together and having fun.

- We will work around whatever your child needs. If your photos need to have their favorite car/ book/ toy, etc in it, we are cool with that. We are ASD parents too, so we get it.

So, if that sounds good to you, let us know! Book with us today!
